What is the Amazon Shopper Panel?
Amazon Shopper Panel is a voluntary invitation-only program where shoppers earn monthly rewards. Available to a limited number of Amazon customers in the UK, interested customers share receipts from purchases outside of Amazon UK.
The new program asks users to send in 10 receipts each month for all purchases made at non-Amazon retailers. This includes department stores, grocery stores, and entertainment outlets like movie theatres. It also accepts receipts from drug stores and restaurants.
Besides sharing receipts, participants also complete short surveys. The Amazon Shopper Panel is currently opt-in and open to customers in the UK and US. However, participants can choose to accept or decline to participate.
How Does the Amazon Shopper Panel Work?
As aforementioned, the Amazon Shopper Panel is an opt-in and invite-only program. You can only participate in the program if Amazon sends you an invitation. To join the program, you’ve to download the Amazon Shopper Panel available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
To earn rewards, simply take pictures of 10 receipts every month of purchases from non-Amazon retailers. After taking the pictures, upload the 10 eligible paper receipts or you can forward the receipts via email. Make sure that you forward the receipts from the same email associated with your Amazon account.
After completing the step above, Amazon will review the receipts to check if they are authentic. This takes 6 hours, and if everything checks out, Amazon will update you by rewarding you with £5 per month. You can submit more than 10 eligible receipts each month, but the maximum reward given by Amazon every month is £5.
Besides sending receipts, Amazon will send you short surveys about brands and products that are of interest to you. For every survey you complete, Amazon will reward you with 25p or more per survey. By completing the surveys, you help brands offer better products. You also make Amazon ads more relevant.
Remember, Amazon Shopper Panel is a voluntary program. So, you can stop using the app, sharing the receipts or completing surveys at any time.
How to Join the Amazon Shopper Panel?
The Amazon Shopper Panel program is available to a limited number of Amazon shoppers in the UK. To join the program, you’ve to receive an invitation and then download the Amazon Shopper Panel app to your smartphone. It is free to download and use the app. Once you install the app, launch it and sign up using your Amazon account.
Then you’ll complete a demographic survey with questions about your income range, age range and gender. Now, you can start taking pictures of your eligible receipts and upload them.
Participation in the Amazon Shopper Panel program is voluntary, and you can stop using the app, answer surveys or use the app anytime you want. What you ought to know is that Amazon will only receive the information that you choose to share via the app. This includes retailer names and product names from the uploaded recipes and survey responses.
To protect your privacy, Amazon usually deletes all sensitive information uploaded via the app. That includes prescription information from pharmacy receipts and others. You can delete previously uploaded receipts any time you want.
Amazon customers who do not receive an invitation to join Amazon Shopper Panel can still download the app to check if space is available. If space is not available, customers who wish to join the panel can join the waiting list. Once they do so, Amazon will notify them if a spot opens up.
What Receipts Are Eligible for the Amazon Shopper Panel Program?
Amazon accepts receipts for purchases made from non-Amazon retailers. Examples include entertainment outlets such as cinemas, theme parks and restaurants. It also accepts receipts from UK grocery stores, department stores and pharmacies.
Currently, Amazon does not accept receipts for purchases made from Amazon UK and other Amazon stores. They include Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market. They also do not accept the following receipts.
- Mortgage
- Rent
- Transport
- Gambling
- Childcare
- Medical expenses
- School tuition fees
- Financial and legal services
- Handwritten receipts
- Non-English language recipes
- Duplicate receipts
- Receipts from outside the UK
Eligible receipts must be 30 days old. They should also have clear text and not faded, blurry or otherwise unreadable text. If sending email receipts, make sure the receipt is in the body of the email and not as an attachment.
If you send any ineligible receipts via the app, Amazon will mark them as not eligible. In fact, a “Not Eligible” label will appear on your app. To know why the receipt is not eligible, tap on the receipt to view the status message.
When receipts are under review by Amazon, you should see the label “Reviewing.” Amazon takes 6 hours to determine the eligibility of your receipts. If you believe Amazon marked any or all of your receipts as ineligible and you believe this to be incorrect, you can request a review.
To do so, go to the specific receipt from your receipt history or recent receipt lists on your app. Find the “Request review” option in the top right corner of your receipt’s details.
As you upload your receipts, your internet connection may become disconnected. Once your internet connection is back, select “Tap to Retry.” This will prompt your app to upload the receipt again.
How Many Surveys Will I Complete Every Month?
You’ll receive short surveys about brands and products that are of interest to you. The number of surveys you’ll receive per month varies. When surveys are available, you’ll receive a push notification on your Amazon Shopper app. Also, if you’ve enabled push notifications on your smartphone, you’ll receive a notification when new surveys are available.
To find available surveys, tap the Surveys button on the app’s home screen. Each survey is only available until its expiration date. You can find the expiration date in the list of available surveys. Before responding to a survey, you’ll see the reward.
When Will I Receive My Reward?
When you first log in to the Amazon Shopper Panel, the app will ask you to select a reward. The default selection is Amazon Balance. You can choose to change the reward to something else. To do so, tap the Rewards tab then tap Change Reward. Select the reward type for the current month, and that’s it. You can choose one of the following:
- £5 Amazon Balance
- £5 Charitable Donation
If you choose Amazon Balance, Amazon will add £5 if all your receipts are eligible. Next time you make a purchase at Amazon UK, the eCommerce giant will automatically apply your Amazon Balance at checkout. You can also choose to use your Amazon Balance for later purchases.
If you select the charitable donation, Amazon will make a £5 donation to your selected charitable organisation. The app will apply all your rewards to your current selection. To change your reward, you’ve up to 11.59 PM UK time on the last day of the month.
Participants cannot change the reward type for the previous month. However, they can change for the current and future months. Every month, you’ll receive your reward from the Amazon Shopper Panel. In fact, you’ll receive the reward within the first 48 hours of the following month.
For example, for rewards earned in November, you’ll receive the rewards by December 2nd. Amazon will also send an email confirming the details of your rewards.
Who Can Take Part in the Amazon Shopper Panel?
As aforementioned, the Amazon Shopper Panel is an invitation-only program. To participate in the program, Amazon will send you an email asking you to join. However, if Amazon Shopper Panel has yet to send an email to join the program, you can download the app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
