Planning a family getaway in Norfolk? You don’t have to leave your dog at home. There are plenty of dog friendly attractions in Norfolk. Here are 22.

1. Blickling Estate

Location: Blickling, Norwich NR11 6NF

The Blickling Estate has over 4,600 acres of parkland, farmland and woodland. You can discover intriguing landmarks and gently rolling countryside. The parkland is the perfect place to take your dog for a walk. Dogs are also welcome on the lakeside and woodland walks.

2. Brancaster

Location: Beach Road, PE31 8AX

The Brancaster circular walk is 4.5 miles long. The first part of the walk takes you through the woods before the scenery changes to see the beach and dunes. To take a dip in the sea, turn left towards the Brancaster Golf Club.

3. Wroxham Barns

Location: Tunstead Rd, Hoveton, Norwich NR12 8QU

Wroxham Barns is a dog-friendly place, and dogs are welcome in the Funpark, grassy picnic area. While the site has dog-free areas, avoid taking your dog to the restaurant, Mini golf course, Junior farm, swings and climbing frame.

4. Kelling Beach

Location: Kelling, Norfolk

Another dog-friendly location is Kelling Beach. As a canine paradise, dogs are usually allowed all year round. The vast sandy beaches are a delight for dogs.

5. Dalegate Market

Location: Main Road, Burnham Deepdale, King’s Lynn PE31 8FB

Dalegate Market is an independent retail site with cafes and shops. As a major North Norfolk Coast hub, it’s an excellent place to shop, relax and connect with family and friends. Besides shopping, Dalegate Market is a great place for a walk with your dogs.

6. Bure Valley Railway

Location: Aylsham Station, Norwich Road, Aylsham, Norfolk, NR11 6BW

The Bure Valley Railway runs through the Bure Valley countryside. It also follows the River Bure as it flows through ancient pasture and meadowland. Alongside the track, there is a footpath. This gives you an option to walk your dog and catch the train back.

7. Cromer Pier

Location: Promenade, Cromer

If looking for dog-friendly areas where you can walk with your dog in Cromer Pier, head to Sheringham Park and Happy Valley Circular Walk. Dogs are also allowed on the pier. But not into the Lifeboat station or Pavilion Theatre. For a lovely walk, start from the Pier towards the Cromer Lighthouse and walk up the steps in the cliff.

8. Blakeney Quay

Location: Blakeney, Norfolk

Take a lovely walk from Blakeney Quay to Morston. You can walk along the coastal footpath with your dogs. The walk is about 30 minutes and gives you great views across the marshes towards Blakeney point. At the end of the walk, admire Morston Quay. Or go to the Anchor Public house for drinks and lunch. It’s dog friendly.

9. Beans Boats

Location: Quay Ln, The St, Morston, Holt NR25 7BH

Take a trip with Bean Boats to see the birds and seals at Blakeney Point. The ferries depart from Morston Quay, and the trip lasts an hour or an hour and a half with landing. Trips run every day but are usually limited with tide times. Well behaved dogs on leads are always allowed. The boats are open to allow for the best views of birds, seals and other wildlife.

10. Redwings Horse Sanctuary

Location: Rogers Farm, Cromer Rd, Norwich NR10 3AT

Your four-legged furry friends are welcome at the Redwings Horse Sanctuary. As the largest horse sanctuary in the UK, Redwings Horse Sanctuary cares for rescued horses. The sanctuary has more than 250 dedicated staff members to help horses in need. Dogs are welcome, but they must be well behaved and kept on a lead at all times.

11. Thetford Forest Park

Location: Brandon, Norfolk

The Thetford Forest Park is a never-ending forest space for exploring. It has lots of nature trails to walk on with your dog. The routes are of various lengths, and you must keep your dog under control.

12. Old Hunstanton

Location: Old Hunstanton, Norfolk

The Old Hunstanton beach is dog friendly with a lovely sandy beach. Ideal for walking dogs, there is the shallow tidal water and stunning backdrop of striped cliffs. There are two trails in Old Hunstanton, and you can either start from the Old Hunstanton car park or the town of Hunstanton.

13. Sandringham Country Park

Location: The Sandringham Estate, Sandringham

There are miles of forest walks at the Sandringham Country Park. You also have a children’s play area, cafe, picnic area, duck ponds and more. One of the forest walks is 1 1/2 miles long, while the other is 2 1/2 miles long. The park is always open every day and does not charge for entry.

14. Holkham Hall

Location: Holkham Rd, Wells-next-the-Sea NR23 1AB

The Holkham Hall welcomes dogs with open arms. There are walking routes and a nature trail for you and your canine companion to explore. While at the park, keep your dog on a lead so as not to disturb the wildlife. Also, do not allow your dog to drink or swim in the lake. Since Holkham Hall is in a working estate, keep an eye for slow-moving vehicles.

15. North Norfolk Railway

Location: Sheringham, Norfolk

The North Norfolk Railway runs through the most stunning coastal scenery. Operated by volunteers, the North Norfolk Railway is East Anglia’s premier railway system. Steam trains usually operate from April to October, every day. Dogs can travel on trains. However, on dining trains, only registered guide and assistance dogs can travel free of charge.

16. Broads Tours River Trips

Location: Wroxham, Norwich

Broads Tours River Trips fleet of passenger trip boats offers an excellent opportunity for visitors to discover the Norfolk Broads. The skipper will explain the origins of the Broads, identify points of interest and show you the local water birds. Happily, you can bring your well-behaved dogs on board for a small additional charge. Due to space restrictions in walkways, Broads Tours River Trips is unable to accommodate larger dogs.

17. Dad’s Army Museum

Location: Thetford, Norfolk

The Dad’s Army Museum opened in 2007 and has several display areas, the Marigold Tea Room and Captain Mainwaring’s church hall. In the museum, you’ll find displays of unique photos along with memorabilia connected with the Dad’s Army series. Dad’s Army Museum is dog friendly but keep your dog on a lead.

Location: Norfolk Broads

The Norfolk Broads is dog friendly, and your canine companion is welcome in most open places such as walking trails. There are over 190 miles of nature trails and footpaths through quiet countryside lanes and rolling countryside. You also have several well maintained circular walks. However, dogs are not allowed on nature reserves.

Walkers and dogs can enjoy Holkham Bay all year round without restrictions. The beach is a huge expanse of pine forest and dunes. However, as you approach the Holkham Nature Reserve, all dogs should be on a lead. This ensures that they do not disturb the wildlife.

20. The Wells And Walsingham Light Railway

Location: Walsingham, Norfolk

Opened in 1982, the Wells And Walsingham Light Railway is 6.44 km long and has the longest 101/4 gauge railway. It runs from Wells-next-the-Sea to Walsingham village. The journey takes 30 minutes, and once you arrive in Walsingham, you can walk along the old railway track to the Catholic National Shrine.

Fairhaven Woodland & Water Gardens is a 130-acre garden and woodland. Situated in the heart of the broads, you and your dog can enjoy a peaceful day away from the hustle and bustle. Dogs on a lead are welcome.

22. Holme-next-the-Sea

Location: Holme-next-the-Sea, Norfolk

Holme-next-the-Sea is a small, pretty village in Norfolk. The village features miles of golden sand, dunes and stunning scenery. It’s dog friendly all year round.
